Cinematography to Tell a Story: Before Sunrise

Cinematography to Tell a Story: Before Sunrise

“Before Sunrise” is one of my all time favourite movies.  There is a scene where the director, cinematographer and actors pull off a defining example of how plot can unfold without a word spoken.  Watch this scene carefully, noting the eyes, and watch how the young couple falls in love while listening to “Come Here” (Kath Bloom).

The use of eye movements as language is duplicated in the sequel “Before Sunset” as the two ascend an old staircase on the way to Celine’s Apartment.
