Venlafaxine is an Opioid, go argue with the textbooks

To everyone who over the past few years has argued with me that Venlafaxine is safe and not an opioid.  Go fuck yourselves.

It is now admitted in textbooks called “Opioid System as the Interface between the Brain’s Cognitive and Motivational Systems”

Page 73 reads…

“The antinociceptive properties of venlafaxine and mirazirpine in mice have been attributed to opioid receptor activation… which can be blocked by naloxone…”

Source:  The Opioid System…

All of you who have argued and dismissed me over these great many years…  First, go fuck yourselves.  After that, go figure out how it is that venlafaxine isn’t an opioid if textbooks say it is.

  1. This drug destroyed my life in ways that are just unimaginable and thank you for the update . I’m on your side with this wish there was more studies though showing the same. I hope this type of evidence will make others do more research into the correlation between Opioids and Venlafaxine. Just looking at the withdrawal issues surrounding Venlafaxine and Opioids makes you stop and drop your jaw. Just wondering have you ever tried to hire a lawyer? if so what was the outcome? I’m just about to start looking for one.

Oh and one last thing. You have “mirazirpine” and it should read “Mirtazapine”

    Thanks

  2. I was laughed at by lawyers. They said: “psychiatric medications can take off your leg and you still can’t sue for it”. In Canada we have the Canadian Medical Protective Agency. This is a tax funded defense of all doctors in Canada. They are impossible to win against. Did you see my other article confirming this stuff binds to the opioid receptors? I’ve been trying for years to get this drug scheduled, banned or have a very strong informed consent required. No one cares. I go on Effexor groups and everyone tells me to shut up and let them take their drugs.

  3. Hi Martin,
I feel for you & you are so incredibly intelligent I can see it in your blog.
I am suffering so much on trazodone which I believe the M-CPP metabolite is making me so anxious. I wondered if you’d look into that for me.
I had never been on medications before this year. I barely took Tylenol. Then during covid I was prescribed this for sleep.
    Feel free to email me.
Thank you for validating what I know to be true. Medications have serious side effects.
